If they did Apple would have ceased to exist as a going concern a long time ago, relegating your Mac to permanent obsolescence, the Amiga of the computer world, a footnote you can look up on your Windows PC-which without any competition will still be running XP. Characterizing the inability to install an operating system nine years after the hardware was built much less designed as "built-in obsolescence" strains credulity. I still believe, that I'm experiencing the built in obsolescence that Apple's so famous for. Apple still provide security updates for it, the latest one having been delivered five days ago. ![]() You said yourself that it has a lot more life in it, and you're right. There is nothing wrong with a 2009 MacBook Pro or El Capitan.
